Global Inequality

Why should we care about other countries and how poor they are? There are plenty of reasons that I believe. I believe we are strong as a nation if you help donate money or toys for those who aren't able to possess the money and be able to live a life without debt and without food, water, shelter, and most importantly happiness. Help out and donate to other countries that are in need of these necessities.

Social Class?

I really think that social class ties in throughout our daily lives. People look at you funny if your clothes are dirty or shabby. Or they will give you a dirty look if the clothes are too nice to have out in the open. I say people usually look at you differently if your car is a deadbeat wagon or a luxury sports vehicle. I usually picked up on this the most when I was in high school, you were known if you looked good or were with the style that was around and that if you had a nice car or some gasoline guzzer that would stink up the parking lot. I think it comes into play also with your race status or sexual status. You are treated differently than if you were white or black or  blah blah blah, I think it should not matter about skin tone. You should be treated how you treat others. End of story.

Are Americans Isolated Due to Technology?

Some may say that technology is a reason to America's obesity and that we can not live without it. I totally agree with this. We are technology dependent, and freak out if something such as our computer or television does not work. We have to go look up what are friends are posting on Facebook, we have to play our video games, we have to watch the latest episode of Saturday Night Live, it is our way of living.  We probably would be in a total meltdown as a nation if our technology was taken away from us and our defense systems would be totally shutdown due to all the high-tech specs we have in our military and national government. The military and government better have a back-up plan to if our latest technology goes to the crapper.

Youth and Crime

Paragraph from the book: "Popular fear about crime centers on offenses such as theft, burglary, assault, and rape seen as the domain of young working-class males. Media coverage of rising crime rates often focuses on moral breakdown among young people and highlights vandalism, school truancy, and drug use to illustrate society's increasing permissiveness."

We should change our approach on what crimes are permitted to prison time. Such as murder, credit fraud, and identity theft. Crimes I believe that should not turn to prison time are larceny to a certain degree, illegal drug use, and underage drinking. They should be put into rehab to change their ways and remain in rehab until they are proven drug free or alcohol free.
