Shift Happens

This video was pretty good crazy information. I was shocked to see that if you just started a 4 year degree program that the information you learn in your 1st year will be outdated by your 3rd year. Information is growing at such a rapid rate! The education field is teaching us and preparing us for jobs that don't even exist yet and of jobs that they have no clue about according to the video. I think our future of learning will be such fast paced just to keep up with the updates of technology and information spreading at a rapid rate, but I am sure that it will be taken correctly and make our lives easier.

Urban/Suburban/Rural

I have lived in the suburbs all my life. I have noticed it to be great, in my guess better than urban settings. Everything is close and you can drive to your destination and be there usually in 5-10 minutes. I have been to D.C. tons of times and I have noticed the numbers are much higher than where I live. This seems to be a trend in any urban to suburban comparison. Why is this? I have no idea other than they go here to bum money off people because they would have more money to spend since people flee to cities to do so or go to sporting events. My grandmother lives in a rural area in Pennsylvania and it is terrible, I always get bored while I am up there other than it is great to see her. You have to travel at least 10-15 miles just to get to a Walmart! It is terrible and I believe they should put stores in closer to people so they aren't traveling in a state of emergency to get their supplies.

Who Has The Power?

I believe in the Pluralist theories. Pluralists accept that individual citizens can have little or no direct influence on political decision making. The United States is considered the most pluralistic of industrialized societies and, therefore, the most democratic. I believe this because we have no control on what Congress, or House of Representatives vote on and that makes it hard for us to make decisions on issues as a nation.

Is Walmart Good For America?

From this link from Carrie Warner of Yahoo! Contributor Network
http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2775172/is_walmart_good_for_america_pg2.html?cat=3

"For the Wal-Mart consumer to get the lowest prices, the products need to be made with the lowest possible wages. This fact has led Wal-Mart to go China to get their products. In 1992, the creator of Wal-Mart, Sam Walton, died. After his death prices of the products in Wal-mart slumped, and soon after imports surged with Asia. 80% of products were being imported, and Wal-mart was makingmore money on the low cost Asian imports. Since Clinton signed a permanent trade agreement with China, China has become the largest exporter to the United States. Within the United States Wal-Mart is the largest retailer. Wal-Mart is China's largest consumer. Since the trade agreement goes both ways, the United States sends three-billion dollars worth of raw materials to China. China sends back thirty-eight billion dollars worth of the finished back to the United States. The U.S. is currently in a one hundred and twenty billion dollar trade deficit with China. Wal-mart executives have said "It's hard to make ends meet here [United States]". The cheap labor is really beneficial to the retailer, not necessarily the consumer. "

This is insane, I also remember my friend doing his research paper on Walmart and its effects on our economy and the world's economy and you can tell that Walmart is taking advantage of low-cost but highly labored products.

Division of Labor

When I did this assignment, I found myself wondering why my Dad isn't involved in more of the family maintenance. My mom was found to be doing most of the stuff included with me and my brother. This was pretty weird. Not much to say except I wish there was a tally counter to show what each category mean't in whether it was a bad thing or not.

Religion

I would have to say as a society, that we are still in with our religious views, and that we will always have our views on it. We will most likely not move away from religion because thats what we look towards during a bad turn for the worst. I believe there is no religious role or should not be with government. Separate church and state!

A Tale of Two Families

This was not shocking to see for back in the day. White people have always had an advantage over other races in wealth. " Wealth isn't just about luxury. It's also the starting point for the next generation. Until the wealth gap is addressed, whites will continue to have an advantage over nonwhites, generation after generation."
I agree with this, whites got a head start since dawn of age and will continue to grow unless other races try and work harder if they aren't already and finish in the long run.
